Starting my peripatetic piano and woodwind teaching in a local high school in Huddersfield this week. Really looking forward to meeting my new students and getting settled into the school.
Some students have experience of playing an instrument before but are learning a second and others are complete beginners. So there should be a nice variety of skills and exciting lessons all round.

I spent Friday in the recording studio with the Simon Street Jazz Quartet working on our Christmas demo for potential Christmas clients.
It was great fun playing Christmas classics on the saxophone, including songs like 'Winter Wonderland' by Felix Bernard and 'All I want for Christmas is you' by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff.
The recordings will be released soon but there is some footage from the recording session (to the Christmas classic God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen) on our website.
Check it out

I don't want to wish Christmas on us too soon but I'm already looking forward to our Christmas gigs and doing some fun Christmas tunes with my students.

New piano student starting this weekend. Got a few lessons already booked in with them so its looking good.
They've been playing piano and organ for a number of years and had lessons in the past but not in the last few years. They are a competent player but want some technical guidance and challenging with some harder music. Maybe some Hanon or Czerny exercises will be a good start.
Looking forward to out first lesson this week.

Started a new song writing project at the Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield with the 3rd Stage group.
The project will contain 8 fortnightly sessions running up to Christmas. In the first session this week we discussed songs, the building blocks that can make a song, and we listened to some songs by well known performers like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and Shayne Ward and had fun talking about the music and lyrics involved in these songs.
In this sessions we aim to write at least one group song and a few smaller group or individual songs.
The group were lovely in the first session and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they progress in songwriting throughout the 8 sessions.

Another new Saxophone student starting tomorrow. They have no previous experience of playing an instrument so I'm looking forward to meeting them and introducing them to the saxophone.
Its always a great privilege to encourage new students in learning music and to introduce them to the excitement of an instrument like the Saxophone
