House of Fraser
The House of Fraser department store in Huddersfield have been gifted a baby grand electric piano from the music store in town and put a request out for pianists.
I gave them a call and I've been there two days this week now, Tuesday and Saturday, entertaining and providing background music for customers as they eat their lunch in the restaurant or are just passing by.

Its been a pleasure and good fun to play, as well as having the opportunity to advertise myself as a performer and teacher. I've already had some interest and requests from people as well as some people taking my cards. All in all it seems to have been a good opportunity to take and maybe some other gigs and new students will come out of it.

I'm playing again on Tuesday, 11.30am-1.30pm, come along and listen and maybe enjoy some lunch as well.

Durham Alumni Big Band
Had another great gig with the Big Band last night at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton. Some awesome playing by a number of players especially my old teacher Andy Bennett.

The youth band played really well too, some really good numbers I hadn't heard before. It was lovely to see some of my past students still playing and seeing how far they have come, they're all grown up now too.

I'm really looking forward to our next gig.

Arrangements
Been a busy few weeks, not just with rehearsals but doing some arrangements as well. Working on songs for The Soulutions, including things like Billy Ocean's 'Love really hurts without you', and for The Simon Street Quartet, working on some harmonic and rhythmic parts for a few numbers, including 'All of me', 'Fly me to the moon' and 'Have you met miss Jones'.

Looking forward to trying these out with the bands and maybe using some of them with my students in lessons.

Saxophone with Simon Street
Been rehearsing Saxophone with The Simon Street Quartet in Huddersfield, preparing for a wedding in May.

Really enjoying our recently added tune 'Billie's bounce', simple but funky. Might have to get my pupils trying it out in our lessons.

Also means I only have two more Wednesday private instrumental lesson slots available now. Wednesday is definitely piano lesson day and is getting busy.
